Dr. Findlay read the above poem, which was published in the Journal for July, 1900, at p. 1. I REVIEWS. Diseases of the Gall-Bladder and Bile-Ducts. By A. W. Mayo Robson, F.R.C.S., assisted by Farquhar Macrae, M.B. Second Edition. London: Bailliere, Tindall & Cox. 1900. In this edition the subject matter has been altered from the lecture to the narrative form, and the author's additional cases, numbering 135, have been included. The cases have been classified, and placed at the end of the appropriate sections of the text. We have had to wait for nearly three years for this edition, but we are compensated for this delay by the possession of the notes of so many additional cases---bringing up the total to 305. While perusing the volume, we have noted some points which might with advantage be revised in a future edition. And, first of all, we must condemn unreservedly Fig. 5 (p. 19). The network of black lines in the figure is most confusing, and does not convey to one's eye the anatomical relations of the parts which it is intended to demonstrate. In its present condition, it is well that the author has prefixed "perhaps" to the sentence alluding to this diagram. We would suggest the shading of the arterial and venous branches, as is usual in anatomical text-books, and we would point out that in the legend "vena porta" occurs three times.
