The people were more loyal--they wished not to force the King to continue to be the husband of an adultress--they proclaimed that their Queen was not guilty, and that the King was innocent. He was gl;;d that a member of an illustrious family had come forward to meet the zealous attachment of the people He lamented the application of the term Radical, and others, which went to dissever the higher, lower, and middle classes. There were Ministers who were radically wrong, and a people who were radi- cally right. The use of the terra was dangerous, even to the producing of public dissention and civil war. He concluded a very impressive speech by proposing the first Resolution in the second series. 1. Resolved, That we have long witnessed, with alarm and indignation, the general potiey and measures of His Majesty's Ministers, which have been as much at variance with the principles of the Constitution as they have been injurious, in their operation, to the best interests of the Country;--their uniform resistance to all plans of reform in public abases, even to corruptions which they acknowledge to be as notorious as the son at noon-day;--their opposition to all plnns of retrenchment and economy in the expenditure of the public money, although the nation is bowed to the earth with excessive taxation;--their keeping up a largo standing army in lime of peace, and the improper employment of the military npon all civil occasions;--their disregard of public opinion, and inattention to the distresses, and neglect of lie petitions, of the people, however widely and loudly expressed, --their having had recourse to bate, unprincipled spies and..
