I resided with him in the year 1813. I went there in May. Vhat was his general disposition and the disposition of his wife?. During my residence in Doct. Jarvis family, 1 had every opportunity to learn his character and disposition. He was uniformly kind, affectionate and mild. I never saw him commit an act that was not becoming a gentleman and a christian. 1 was there from May, 1813 to Sept. 1814. Doct. Jarvis went to reside in N. York, at the request of his wife. _ Was he not indulgent to Mrs. Jarvis? The most indulgent husband 1 ever knew. Was Miss Amelia Hart there ! She was. Part of the time in dehcate health. Was there ever any coldness between them ! I saw on one occasion some coldness between them, particularly at meals. I never saw him in the least unkind towards her. There was more ofa silence than coldness. I was studying with Dr. Jarvis preparatory to my entering college. Was he obliged to leave Bloomingdale, and for what !.Mrs. Jarvis wished to reside in New York, and he thought it was too troublesome for him to travel so-much between the two places. What was his general character for mildness? _ Very mild--temper could endure more than any man. Had he ever any cause for provocation ! I have seen occasions when I should have been highly provoked, I think. ' While they resided in New York I did not live with them..
