The John Swift family makes a move to a new town where Mr. Swift is to take over as the pulpit minister for the church of Christ there. Swift was an outstanding baseball player in his younger days but was injured by an unscrupulous player and his hopes for a professional career were dashed with a serious knee injury. After several surgeries, he was able to attend college, was married and became a high school coach for several years. John Swift decided to work full time for the church and accepted a position at Centerville, a baseball hotbed in the past, but the past has a way of following a person. The very person that had inflicted the knee injury on Swift was working at the local high school. John Swift's son Billy has become an outstanding baseball player in his own right. The first summer at Centerville is filled with decisions (Bridges to Cross), intrigue, and mystery. There is baseball action galore, romance between two high school seniors who just happen to be new neighbors, a mysterious robbery, and other interesting and attention holding intrigues. If you like baseball, romance, and mystery in a church and faith changing setting, you will love, "Bridges"
